We all make decisions each day we live. Small or great it may be, will definitely affect our emotions, our mood for the day, our relationships, even our future. Many times we unconsciously made wrong decisions because we forgot to consider a thing or do. How many times we’ve made decisions without considering the possible effects and consequences that goes with our choices, and soon after we got depressed or worse, we woke up one day living a miserable life because of the wrong decision we’ve made?
Our past experiences in life would tell us that no matter how good and excellent we are in decision-making process and analysis, we are all prone to mistakes. It only shows that we are not in control of everything that could happen in minutes and hours after we’ve made a decision that seems right and perfect according to our logical abilities. Even managers and executives make wrong decisions. Some of the critical decisions a person make in an average life span of 75 years includes: what college course to take and where, choosing a career, choosing a spouse, to be an employee or start a business, and where to retire. Sad to say, most of the times we land to second best because of our wrong choices in life. On the other hand, God give the best to those who leave the choice to Him.
Let us not be foolish in making decisions that could give us regrets and pain sooner or later. Let us be wise by consulting God first through prayer and by reading His Word. Now, let us take a closer review of God’s Word in the Book of Genesis. Actually, let’s go back in time where the first man and woman created by God walked in this planet. God created Adam and Eve in His image. God gave them the free will to choose on what to believe or what to take. However, God gave them very clear instructions in Genesis 2:16-17 where it says, “…You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die”. Adam and Eve failed to obey God and the consequence of that wrong decision put them in a place outside the Garden of Eden where God placed them to enjoy the bounty of His creation. As a result, Adam needs to work the ground that has been cursed because of their disobedience. Through painful toil, they ate all the days of their lives (Genesis 3:17). Unlike before, everything has been given to them by God. Every seed-bearing plant on the face of the earth, every tree that has fruit with seed in it, and every green plant for food was given to Adam. That single wrong decision had caused an increased pain in childbearing for Eve and painful toiling of the cursed ground for Adam. That wrong decision made a negative effect in God and man relationship which was carried through generations after generations and up to this day. It separated man from a close fellowship with his Creator.
Now, I have good news for you my friend. More than 2,000 years ago God sent His only Son Jesus to die on the cross of Calvary for all the sins of the human race which includes the sins of our forefathers, sin of Adam and Eve, our past sins, present sins, and even our future sins. God created us; He loves us and has wonderful plans for us. So be wise and make the best decision for your life today by accepting God’s free gift of eternal life through Christ Jesus. You can do this through a simple prayer of acceptance. Ask God to forgive your sins, trust Him to be your Lord and Savior, and receive Him into your heart.
