Have you ever heard stories like David versus Goliath, Gideon’s 300 warriors against 25,000 Midianites, Israelites versus the Egypt’s thousand warriors, and Daniel versus the whole king’s court? What comes first to your mind hearing all these stories? Or what your reaction would be? On my part, I actually shouted, that’s unfair! Imagine it is like a battle between a dwarf and an ogre. But after I finished listening to the whole story one thing marveled me.

Despite of the fact that they were few, they won the battle without wounds or even just a small cut in their bodies. Imagine engaging in a war without getting a wound is close to impossible. With this in mind I actually can’t sleep that night. My mind is as if bringing me into the scenario of their battles. It fascinated me how David killed Goliath with a slingshot. How Gideon’s warriors annihilated the vast army of Midea. How the Israelites crossed the Red sea, the very reason why lots of Egyptian Army were killed, and how Daniel was saved on the Lion’s den. Having these thoughts on my mind, it actually led me into more personal approach. That sometimes we are like those people who are on the least side. People, who are hopeless because of the giants we are facing, people who are saddened by the things happening around.

As I was remembering battles I actually remembered a man who had been into his most decisive battle. That was the moment where he felt that he was alone, with no one to hold on to. That was the time when his riches have gone. And together with his money, all his friends are gone too! What a coincidence. A man who’s got a lot of debts to pay but he’s got no money. Homeless and hopeless, the only thing that was full to him that time was shame. He asked for help from his so-called friends but they locked their doors for him. Then suddenly a family who isn’t that rich offered him their help. Without having second thoughts he accepted the help being offered. The family gave him food and shelter. They actually treated him as if he was a real family member. But still he cannot accept his own fate. There were nights that he actually cried telling himself that these are all unfair. He’s alone but he’s got so many problems. He’s already small but he’s got giant problems, what to do?

Then one day, as he was again thinking about all of his problems, a man talked to him as if he knew what was going on. He was wandering who gossiped his life to this man. He actually asked, “Who told you about my story?” the man answered, “no one, it is obvious.” And he said, “Obvious that I am poor?” the man answered back, “No, it is obvious that you need God.” After hearing these, the words just echoed in his mind. Then he knelt down and cried. This is my friend’s story. That was the moment he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. And from that day he never felt alone.

How about you, do you have the same story? Or are you in a battle? Friend, only Jesus is the key to all of your longings. He is the very reason why all the people I mentioned above won their battles even though they were on the least side. He even died just for you to be able to live this life to the full. John 3:16 states that, “For God so loved the world the He gave His only begotten Son, so that whosoever believes on Him will not perish but will have eternal life.” Friend, just let Him in. Make Him your Lord and Savior. He actually promised, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” The salvation He is giving you is free; all you have to do is grab the opportunity. So what are you waiting for?
